I think there's one other factor in here, Seth: a bunch of people, mostly if not entirely MAGA, who aren't interested in nuance or details. They just want simple answers to their problems, and they don't care of the answers make little to no sense or that those "answers" may harm people more than solve the problem.
Trump gave them exactly that. It's not the whole answer, but I feel as though it's a considerable part of it.
It's a cult. I understand the dynamics. I understand this is a three-pronged attack and that they may disagree on how to achieve the manner at hand and the factions have some friction.
End goal: dismantle and destroy US, Canada, EU, bit by bit. Miller, Musk, and P2025 are aligned in making America White, Musk is mostly OK with that as long as there are exceptions he can exploit for cheap labor.
Someone should perhaps try to explain why women didn't vote overwhelmingly for Harris, given the anti-abortion legislation. A lot of people thought it would be THE issue, and it obviously wasn't.
Some was intimidation, some states have "family" voting booths were husband go in with wife to make sure they voted "correctly" and some are fine with Patriarchy as long as it help them, and leaves them others to punch down on. Why? Not sure, might be Evangelical wives submitting, or other.
I'm late to the post and on FB sporadically to msg Vyckie, go to specific profile, leave. If I could delete it, I would. When the "keys to the kingdom" were acquired, as a courtesy, I let mom know her SS, Medicare, etc. were at risk. She told me I was lying to her. She will end up homeless and desitute, and ripple effects will leave me the same. I tried. She's ULTRAMAGA.
The actual, technical term is a Kakistocracy, and another term will be coined by future historians. It's a blend of Plutocracy, Kleptocracy, Oligarchy, and totalian rule. Dr. Timothy Snyder calls it Regime Change, and coined it (for now ) Trumpomuskovia. It refers to these two, but has echoes of the demographic Muscovites, and Muscovia, the historical name of Russia in various E European languages and history.
That's not what the DP stood for. They had more issues for the middle class than trump. Perhaps you should read The Atlantic's article entitled "How hitler dismantled democracy in 53 days." If you don't want to pay, I'll copy and paste for you. If you're not disturbed by the parallels...
You're sure about some executive orders possibly being reversed. Based on what? The all-republican government we now have? The fact that trump is filling the government with maga-loyalists who will obey him unconditionally? Are you not disturbed that trump has ended protection for HIS FORMER STAFF MEMBERS because they betrayed him under the guise it is not cost-effective to maintain? The fact he's making a foreign nation suffer because they wouldn't submit to his bullying by allowing a military aircraft loaded with immigrants to land? They said they would accept a commercial jet for obvious reasons.
Kamala Harris was a terrible candidate. She was running fifth behind Pete Buttigieg in her HOME state of California during the 2020 primary before dropping out.
You say that "Kamala lost because Trump Cult was an easy mark for empty promises and scary monologues about the traitorous and dangerous Others," while Harris and the Democrats warned that Trump was "a danger to democracy." However, just as they claimed that Biden's mental acuity was sharp prior to the jaw-dropping performance at the debate, this seemingly was rhetorical rather than factual. We saw President Obama chatting and laughing with Trump at President Carter's funeral and President Biden jovially meeting with President-elect Trump.
I'm sure there are some Executive Orders that Trump has recently signed that will ultimately be rejected and other excesses that will be adjudicated. I don't put much faith into political promises, nor do I think the United States is particularly on the cusp of destruction. I have concerns especially for the Democratic Party that has strayed too far from the center and have become the party of elites and identity politics.
If the instutions do not hold, there will not be elections in 2026. Sham ones like Orban and Putin have, but if the institions can't hold, there's no mechanism legal or otherwise to stop them. Laws no matter matter. SCOTUS has ruled he can as he likes under declared Unitary Executive rules, and there will be no consequences. People are capitulating in hopes they will be spared. Capitulation is not a good idea under tyranny.

More people need to understand that women's opinions on abortion aren't much different from men's.
https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/fact-sheet/public-opinion-on-abortion
(Note only 3%-5% differences.)
Abortion isn't that much of a men-vs.-women issue, but very much a religious-right-wing-nuts-vs.-everyone-else issue.
That is one poser among too many.

We’re now somewhere stuck between an theocracy and an oligarchy, hopefully the latter on take precedence 😖

He did it in 53 days. This group is on a speed run to to beat that record.
